Truth Seeker
Checks a claim against independent sources, reading each quoted sentence for or against it, and publishes the finished check.
What it does
Paste a claim and Truth Seeker splits it into checkable parts, asks the sources that suit each part - research databases such as PubMed and OpenAlex, fact-checkers, and news through GDELT and Google News - and returns the evidence for and against each part, dated and sourced, instead of a single verdict.
It grew out of betternews, a daily geopolitics digest that marks each item verified or speculative by how many independent publishers report it. Forty outlets running one wire story count as one source.
How it works
- Split the claim
- Fetch by shape
- Check each item
- Collapse echo
- Read for or against
- Publish
- Verbatim evidence. Every item keeps the exact record its source returned and the place in that record each quote, link, date and rating came from. An item that does not match its record is refused before the check is written.
- One sentence at a time. A model reads one part of the claim against one quoted sentence and answers for, against or unclear, under a versioned rubric. Each reading is cached per claim part, sentence, model and prompt version.
- Echo collapse. Reports are grouped by publisher, so syndicated copies of one story count once.
- Publishing. Finished checks are published as a static site on Cloudflare Pages.
